Default Large Ordnance Forum Artillery shells, bombs, grenades, mortar rounds, fuzes, etc.

Welcome to the Large Ordanance Forum. This is a place where information is exchanged about Ordance: Shells, bombs, grenades, mortar rounds, fuzes etc. used by both the Allies and the Axis powers during the period between 1933 and 1945. But also older and newer Ordance. The collecting community of Ordance has become quite large, and is growing constantly. This forum is a place where both novice and advanced collectors can gain valuable knowledge which will help them avoid the many pitfalls of this very interesting hobby.

There is also place here for packages, crates and boxes, and paper work.

Feel welcome to post here, and give life and form to this new forum

Default Navy 5" Round

Hello, Its Time To Get This Thread Going. Here Is My Largest Complete Round. This Round Is Quite Scarce. Its A Navy 5"25 Cal. The Projectile Is Marked Mk 35 Mod 6 5" Aa Com And Dated 1-37. And Has A Shipping Plug. The Case Is Marked 5" Mk 4 25 Cal And Is Dated 4-42. This Is A Fixed Round That Loaded Weighed 80 Lbs. Empty This Beast Is Still 63 Lbs. And This Gun Was Manually Loaded. Some Navy Brutes Must Have Loaded These Guns. The Color Picture Below Is Of Navy Gun Crews Aboard The Battleship New Mexico In June 1944 Firing There 5" Guns. A Good Crew Was Able To Fire 15-20 Rounds Per Minute.
