Default Information reguarding Von Carnas

I am looking to purchase a Army 4 pocket M-36 style tunic for Hauptmann of Artillery. This tunic was made by "Holters of Berlin" and the name tag on the inside of the tunic gives the following name " Hauptm.Frhr.Von Carnas"

I would like to find information on this person. The dealer selling the tunic has no other information on Von Carnas except that he was 1a to Generalmajor Remer. If anyone could give information on Von Carnas or how to find out more about him ie. websites, books etc (web sites in english would be helpful) would be appreciated.

Thanks Kris.

That should be Freiherr von CarnaP.

There was no artillery Hauptmann Freiherr von Carnap in the regular army.

Of the two officers with that name in January 1939, one was an infantry Hauptmann and the other was a retread Hauptmann (E) with "Panzer" norminal branch. Both would have made Major in 1939/40, and indeed while the infantry regular was gone (and so presumably dead) before 1944, the "Panzer" stay-at-home was a 1942 Oberstleutnant (S).

A wartime Super Aryan not already commissioned before the war would only have been able to reach Hauptmann rank if he was loaded down with retroactive seniority bettering decorations... and NO Baron Carnap was.

A General Staff "1A" would not have been wearing the uniform of an artillery officer.

So: either this man was a reserve officer (invisible to Third Reich Rank Lists) or he was one of the OTHER two Barons Carnap and the insignia has, as is far too often the case, been twiddled.
