Some Genossen here need to do their research into Dress Regulations Genossen.
My spite and bile has been all used up on Genosse iannima , if he can do it right ( some of the time)…… they certainly can .
Felddienstuniform
Dienstuniform

Appears I lost track of time.
The cosfest ended a few weeks ago, so here's a look at what it was like.
Durandal (another WA member) and I went there together. He's the Soviet Border Guard Parade uniform on the right, while I'm the Grenzer on the left. We met up with another DDR reenactor and collector, whom stands in the middle as a NVA Artillery Officer.
A Black and White photo I had a friend take. I liked the look of the sign in Black and White, especially with a old uniform to go with it.
It was a good day, got to talk more with others whom were interested in the hobby of collecting and made new acquaintances.
Only probem of the day was one man whom asked me if I was wearing a Nazi Uniform. When i told him it was East German he didn't know what that was.
Oh, and pardon the older model AK 47.

It's asia, and sometimes some people have really little knowledge about the european history.
I think it's great that we have people collecting DDR stuff in Singapore I was in singapore myself a few days in february.

About a week ago I went to a Renaissance fair dressed in a GT field impression.
Unfortunately I took not a single photo

Yup, it's Singapore.
It was fun anyway. Most people could tell it was German, I think. But I did expect not many people to recognize it as Grenztruppen, let alone GDR.
I find that if any major international event is to be known, it's WW2. Most likely due to how we were invaded in 1941 by the Japanese.
Thanks for the comment on the photos.

Heroic KdA shock trooper
Note the goofy (Soviet-made) eyewear as seen on several historic documents.

Cool glasses! You should go to a thrift shop and find some vintage comfy sandals to complete the look.

Incidentally, how common/popular were Soviet-made consumer goods in the DDR? Did any Soviet name brands make inroads among the German consumers?
What is the likelihood of the Genosse being portrayed above wearing this highly progressive "Bolshevik" brand jacket to complement his funky glasses when he's not in uniform?
I know Western goods are popular and considered status symbols in some cases (oddly enough, even the "Bolshevik" jacket above claims that it is licensed from the French somehow ... unless I entered the Cyrillic letters wrong on my translation app), but one would surely assume that there were more goods being imported from the East?

Well I must be totally mad. Today I drove two hours out of town to a state forest just to take pictures of myself. Seems like fall brings this side of me out, maybe because Halloween is around the corner... Anyway, these should be a shade better than my first "GAK" photos since I actually have a gun.

Grenzer approaches

"What are you lookin' at?"

"I can take pictures too."

Closes gate

Grenzer heads back to the guard tower

I wish i knew someone here who was into the DDR as much as I am. None of my friends would be caught dead in a Strichtarn FDU. Was kind of lonely out there.
A couple more photos:

... surely that made it all the more accurate
WELL DONE Genosse! Rest assured that details like the FDA Übergangperiode Nummer 2 are not lost on me!
I am sure Genosse Viktor will soon join me in sending a fraternal embrace across the ocean, but we MUST work on your plane ticket to Beltring...

KevinH,
Two of your photos were washed out, and one was partially washed out. Thought I'd correct them as best as possible and re-post them for you.
Hope this is okay ......
