Mark,

A very nice tunic.

As with many issues on the WAF, the comments about the eagle and tresse are "collector" concerns and would have been irrelevant at the time the tunic was produced or subsequently modified for promotion.

I once owned an army old-style tunic with all the buttons marked RZM SS. Obviously the person sewing the buttons just grabbed whatever he/she needed from a box and couldn't care less about the markings on the rear.

IMO the tresse is actually very early real silver plated type that has tarnished rather than the later subdued type. I'm judging from the photos of course and could be wrong.....but that is what it looks like too me. The boards I think are original to the tunic even though the piping appears to be rayon....it is a fact that rayon was being used in the mid to later 30s for such applications especially for private purchase insignia.

I agree - it looks like early wire Tresse to me. The sewing job on the board Tresse is not what appeals to me as a collector, though.
