Default 30 Year NVA Anniversary Medal

Just wanted to show my 30 Year NVA Anniversary Medal I just got from Torsten, the last time he had one for sale I missed out on it, I now think that may have been for the best as this one is just about flawless!

I was always confused by this medal.

Some say it was awarded ONLY to those members who had served in the NVA from the start.
I am guessing that it was also given as a merit honor because I have seen pictures of it being worn by members who appeared far younger.

In any case it was not as UNIVERSAL an award as the Soviet, or Cuban, equivalent medals for anniversary of the SA, or FAR.

Mike - CONGRATS in adding another DDR medal to your collection. I hope at some point you can add a certificate to your collection.

Thanks Ralph, after years of TR my DDR collection is starting to come along nicely IMO anyway. Much more comfortable field to collect in. I like Imperial also, but of all that, I have not one certificate.

I got mine over 3 years ago, at which point they were already getting harder to find (though far from impossible). Nice score.

Thanks!! It's only been about three years since I started collecting DDR medals.

I don't know what took me so long!

I wish the best of luck in finding and adding a certificate to your collection.

When I was working on Volume II, I forgot to add a page about the medal and document that was presented to a former member of the MfS.
